Licence suspensions for PEAK non-compliance continue June 15, 2026

UPDATE

On Monday, June 15, 2026, PEO will continue suspending licences for professional engineers and limited licence holders who have not completed the following requirements of the Practice Evaluation and Knowledge (PEAK) program:

  • ‘Continuing Professional Development Report’ requirement for 2025, which was due December 31, 2025; and
  • ‘Practice Evaluation’ and ‘Professional Practice Module’ requirements for 2026, which were due January 31, 2026.

The PEAK program is mandatory. Those who have not completed their PEAK requirements risk having their PEO licence suspended.  In 2025, PEO began suspending licences of those who were not compliant. Fee remission licence holders and first-year licence holders are exempt from all PEAK program requirements.

Additional suspensions for the remaining non-compliant individuals will be applied in phases.

Professional engineers and limited licence holders can avoid a licence suspension by completing their PEAK requirements.

Professional consequences of a licence suspension mean those with a suspended licence:

  • Cannot practise professional engineering.
  • Cannot assume responsibility for professional engineering work, including supervising or taking responsibility for engineering work performed by others, or affixing the seal.
  • Has their licence suspension noted on the public PEO directory.
  • Cannot refer to themselves as a licence holder or use the professional designation, P.Eng. or LEL/LET.
  • Cannot be a licence holder associated with a Certificate of Authorization under section 47 of Regulation 941.
  • Cannot hold a Consulting Engineer designation.

To complete the PEAK program, licence holders can go to the PEAK section of their PEO portal account, click the ‘Start program button’ and follow the prompts.

To view completion statuses, go to the Licence Profile section of the PEO portal account. For instructional videos, go to the PEAK How-To Videos webpage.

Exemptions from the PEAK program
If you have an extenuating circumstance that prevents you from completing your PEAK requirements, explore PEO’s fee remission program, which allows you to retain your licence, reduces your licence fee for you committing not to practise, and exempts you from all PEAK program requirements.
