PEO installed Fred Saghezchi, P.Eng., MASc, FEC as its 106th president during its annual general meeting (AGM) on April 26, 2025.
President Saghezchi is a mechanical engineer by training and has been licensed by PEO since 2004. Professionally, he has over 30 years of diverse professional experience managing in Tier 1 organizations, notably in operations, resource utilization and system controls.
He now runs his own company, providing industrial products and services and a range of product design and development solutions. President Saghezchi has a long volunteer history with the Willowdale/Thornhill PEO Chapter, serving in several volunteer positions.
At the AGM, PEO also introduced its Council for the 2025-2026 term. The 24 individuals on the new Council govern PEO’s 91,000 licence and certificate holders, and regulate professional engineering in Ontario to serve and protect the public interest.
The new leadership group includes province-wide representation from a wide array of sectors. The composition and operation of Council is dictated by Regulation 941 under the Professional Engineers Act. Most councillors are elected by PEO's licence holders. Currently, seven councillors are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, three of whom are lay public members.
