Markel has worked in the financial services and telecommunications industries where she developed extensive knowledge of regulatory environments, legal frameworks and sound compliance programs. Markel’s corporate background in multinational corporations is complemented by entrepreneurial experience in a local legal startup where she focused on strategic growth and developing client relationships. Markel has taught at Seneca College in the graduate business programs and is currently a coach at Helix, Seneca’s innovation and incubator program.

Markel has been a dedicated advisor, board member and board chair at several not-for- profit organizations in the education, immigration and poverty relief sectors. In her spare time, Markel enjoys skiing and hiking, and she is a music and theatre lover—particularly when the productions involve any of her three children. [email protected]
