Philip John Anthony Lasek, P.Eng., FEC

Member of the Order of Honour, 2026 | Lambton Chapter

Known as a dedicated volunteer and humble leader, Phil Lasek is a cornerstone of the Lambton Chapter.

In his 26 years of volunteering, Phil has primarily held the role of chair but has also served as vice chair, GLP delegate, certificate coordinator and secretary.  Under his leadership, the chapter has kept its membership engaged with PEO's regulatory role, supported new and aspiring licence holders through mentorship, and activities that help them understand their role as engineers along with increasing their knowledge and professional skills.  His positive attitude and inclusion efforts promote a culture of openness within the chapter that fosters teamwork.

When the chapter was short-staffed, Phil stepped up to cover essential roles while simultaneously recruiting new volunteers.  Before there was a PEO Chapter Manual, Phil led the drafting of bylaws  helping the chapter operate in an organized fashion.

During outreach events, Phil volunteers at the PEO Lampton Chapter booth to share his knowledge of the engineering profession and PEO's mandate and role.

Phil’s infectious enthusiasm for engineering and education outreach has inspired generations of children to become interested in STEM and related careers. He has supported outreach initiatives through chapter activities, such as Discovery Day during National Engineering Month, truss building and breaking in partnership with local schools, Lambton County Science Fair, Go Eng Girl and FIRST Robotics Canada, among others.  He also organized a STEM-related panel of women guest speakers during the 2024 Spring General Membership meeting.  Phil has also been instrumental in collaborating with the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park in establishing an academic-technology-engineering hub that provides academic researchers access to present engineering and science research projects to engineers. Researchers gain exposure for their research projects and engineers and engineering technologists gain CPD hours.
