Pat F. Scanga, P.Eng., FEC

Officer of the Order of Honour, 2025 | West Toronto Chapter

In his every role as a 30+ year PEO volunteer, Pat Scanga has been an exemplary ambassador for the profession, always serving with character and integrity.

Since being inducted as a Member of the Order of Honour in 2021, Pat has continued providing volunteer leadership for the West Toronto Chapter.  During the COVID pandemic, with the chapter executive facing severe difficulties, Pat stepped in and singlehandedly held the chapter leadership together, taking on the roles of Chapter Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and anything else requiring direction or guidance. During these difficult times, Pat continued supporting the chapter with steadfast determination and an unwavering personal touch. His leadership kept the chapter volunteers and members engaged and motivated during the pandemic, creating a community where everyone could connect and interact remotely to network and facilitate discussions regarding engineering matters.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Pat’s leadership is his ability to inspire and mentor others. He has guided countless individuals—internationally educated engineers, women engineers, and engineering graduates seeking licensure—fostering a culture of growth and development. His mentorship has not only enhanced the skills and knowledge of those he has guided but has also instilled a sense of confidence and purpose.

Additionally, for 27 years, Pat served as Treasurer and Fundraising Director for the former Engineering Innovation Forum—an annual event that focused on current topics from the engineering point of view, and promoted the work engineers do, the way they do it, and how it benefits society.
