Artemy (Art) Kirnichansky, P.Eng., FEC
Member of the Order of Honour, 2025 | Mississauga Chapter
An active PEO volunteer since 2007, Artemy Kirnichansky has an outstanding record of volunteer service in the engineering community, at both the chapter and provincial levels.
A Mississauga Chapter volunteer since 2007, Art has served as chair (2013-14), vice-chair, treasurer and privacy officer, as well as leading the nominating, communications, scholarship and social media committees. Among his biggest contributions was revamping the chapter’s website with a modern design and enhanced functionality, making it easier to find and sign up for chapter events. He also launched the chapter’s social media presence on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, successfully growing the LinkedIn community to over 1,500 members.
Art also organized high-profile events, including a town hall with author, academic and former leader of the federal Liberal party Michael Ignatieff, four ‘Meet Your Provincial Candidate’ events and two conferences—"Engineers as entrepreneurs” and “Engineers as managers”—which were well attended by the engineering community.
Art is a great mentor to his fellow volunteers, always ready to answer questions and provide help and guidance. He organized events encouraging women to become chapter board members, and supported women who went on to leadership positions at both the chapter and PEO Council.
Art has also volunteered at the provincial level, chairing the PEO IT Review Task Force Committee, which evaluated chapter IT tools and recommended improvements for enhanced operations. And on PEO Council, as a West-Central Region councillor, he helped organize the Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC), playing a key role in planning, organizing and executing the event.
