Good Performance
The Good Performance policy allows new exam registrants to complete their academic requirements sooner if they meet the criteria listed below.
To benefit from the policy, you must register for two technical exams in your first sitting. If you achieve qualifying marks, the waiver will be applied and confirmed in the application portal.
If you are writing technical exams for the first time, choose to write two exams instead of four:
- Two from Group A, or
- One from Group A and one from Group B
- Both exams must be from the same engineering discipline, e.g., MEC, CIV, ELEC, etc.
If you achieve a grade of at least 65 per cent on your first two exams, we will waive your remaining exam requirements.
Please note that PEO must receive the WES course-by-course evaluation of your bachelor’s degree to enable the waiver of exams.
No. Both exams must be written at the same exam sitting and have the required minimum grades to qualify for Good Performance. Those who have previously written PEO technical exams do not qualify for the Good Performance policy.
No. Good Performance is only available to candidates who have not yet written any of the required confirmatory exams.
Yes. If you withdrew from a previous exam sitting and did not write any exams, you may still be eligible for Good Performance. To qualify, you must achieve the required minimum grades on two exams at the first sitting in which you actually write exams.
PEO must verify that you have completed a recognized degree program to provide a waiver for confirmatory exams. If the degree program isn’t on PEO’s list of recognized programs, Good Performance can’t be awarded until the program is verified.
Technical Exams
No. Candidates who complete all four exams can choose exams from any discipline. They must select two exams from A, one from B, and one from Complementary Studies.
However, if a candidate wishes to reduce their exams by meeting PEO’s Good Performance policy requirements, they must select two technical exams from the same discipline.
All exam purchases are final and non-refundable. Your selection cannot be changed once a purchase is made. Exams are not transferable between sittings; therefore, you should be prepared to take any exam you purchase.
If the exams that candidates plan to write at the upcoming sitting are not listed on the portal, they may contact [email protected] and the exam may be made available at the following sitting. Please find the complete list of exams here.
Candidates have unlimited attempts to pass technical exams until they pass the required number of technical exams to apply for a licence.
Candidates should mark the ‘Academics’ section as “Complete” via the application portal.
You will receive an email indicating the result of each exam.
Exams are offered twice a year.
Registration for the Spring/Summer session opens in January.

No. You can provide the required academic documents at any time before submitting your application.
Before purchasing technical exams, ensure that the academic program you selected from PEO’s Recognized Programs List is accurate. Only choose a program from the RPL if it matches your academic credentials; otherwise, your application may be delayed or invalid.
If your program is not listed, you can submit a Program Verification Request through the application portal to verify your credentials.
The date displayed in the portal is for internal use only. Please contact [email protected] or visit the EGBC website for more information.
No. The WES course-by-course report is the required academic document for international non-CEAB candidates who graduated outside the United States. It does not impact the Technical Exam Requirement.
Candidates will receive their Technical Exam results via email as soon as they become available.
It is up to the candidate to decide which sittings they will attend to meet PEO’s technical exam requirement. Sittings are offered twice a year.
Yes, if you meet the criteria of our Good Performance policy. If you’re a new exam registrant and achieve a minimum grade of at least 65 per cent on your first two technical exams, we will waive your remaining two exams.
To qualify for this policy, you must register for two technical exams in your first sitting. If you achieve qualifying marks, the waiver will be applied and confirmed in the application portal.
Candidates are not required to re-write a failed exam, and may purchase a different exam in a future session.
Candidates decide how to prepare for technical exams (e.g., self-study, taking a course or finding a tutor). They may refer to the Recommended Textbooks and PEO Syllabus of Examinations.
Yes. Technical exams are written online. Candidates may write technical exams outside Canada if they have high-speed internet and a webcam.

Re-application FAQ
If you are a re-applicant, please follow these steps:
- Create a new account in PEO’s application portal and log in.
- Click "Applications" and then "Start."
- When the survey appears, answer "Yes" to question #6 to indicate that you have applied before, then enter your latest closed PEO file number. If you are unable to validate your file number, do not select "No." Instead, contact us at [email protected]. Incorrectly choosing "No" as a re-applicant can significantly delay your application.
If you have successfully validated your closed file number under the new application, your previous application progress will transfer to the new application.
No. Successful validation of the closed PEO file against the new file will ensure your program information is transferred to the new application. You will not need to resubmit academic documentation.
