PEO York Chapter : Introduction to Power System Studies

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Courtyard Toronto Markham

65 Minthorn Blvd, Markham, ON

Event Information:

This presentation explores the evolution of power system studies, from their early days to the transformative impact of affordable computing. It examines the development of analysis software, the expansion of capabilities, and the growing study requirements driven by new power electronics devices, renewable energy sources, and inverter-based resources (IBRs). With increasing mandates from grid operators, transmission owners, and distribution owners, new static, dynamic, and transient study categories have emerged. Key study types, including frequency and time domain analyses, will be discussed, followed by a Q&A session.
