The Professional Engineers Ontario - York Chapter Education Committee is organizing an Engineering Design Challenge for grades 7 and 8 students of schools located in York Region.
Location: Sir William Mulock Secondary School, 705 Columbus Way, Newmarket, ON L3X 2M7
Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026
Time: 9:30 a.m - 4:00 p.m (Pizza lunch is provided to student teams)

The judging criterias, design requirements, limitations, and materials will be provided at the start of the challenge.
Students will plan, build, and test their designs on March 28, 2026 using materials provided by York Chapter Professional Engineers Ontario.
4 students per team.
1 adult representative per team (to provide health and safety supervision, must not contribute to the design or build process).
Registration is limited to a maximum of 16 teams from schools within York Region.
Teams are encouraged to dress in a creative team uniform that is cohesive across the team
Prizes for the top 5 teams and best dressed team.
Please read the consent form before registration. By registering for the Design Challenge, you agree to the terms of the consent form.
Registration closes on Sunday March 22nd at 8:00 p.m or when all tickets are sold out, whichever comes first.

Wind Turbine
Are you ready to put your engineering skills to the test?
York Region Students in Grades 7 and 8 are invited to register in teams of 4 to participate in a challenge to design turbine blades and assemble a wind turbine with the materials provided.
Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Location: Sir William Mulock Secondary School Cafeteria
705 Columbus Way, Newmarket, ON L3X 2M7
Each student will receive a pizza lunch.
The Top 5 teams will win prizes.
Teams are encouraged to wear creative uniforms that represent their team spirit and connect to engineering.
A prize will go to the team with the most creative uniform.
Registration fee is $60 per 4-person student team, and one dedicated adult representative is required per team (not contributing to the design process). Online registration ends March 22, 2026, or when all spots are filled.

Concours de conception en ingénierie 2026
Prêts à mettre vos compétences en ingénierie à l'épreuve ?
Les élèves de 7e et 8e année de la région de York sont invités à s'inscrire en équipes de 4 pour participer à un concours de conception en ingénierie.
Date : Samedi 28 mars 2026, de 9 h 30 à 16 h
Lieu : École secondaire Sir William Mulock (Ontario)

Un repas pizza sera offert à chaque élève.
Les 5 meilleures équipes remporteront des prix.
Les équipes sont encouragées à porter des uniformes originaux qui reflètent leur esprit d'équipe et font le lien avec l'ingénierie.
Un prix sera remis à l'équipe dont l'uniforme est le plus original.
Les frais d'inscription sont de 60 $ par équipe de 4 élèves. Un adulte représentant est requis par équipe (sans participer au processus de conception). Les inscriptions en ligne se terminent le 22 mars 2026 ou lorsque toutes les places seront pourvues.
