Event Information:

This presentation will discuss the practical, experiencebased review of common shoring systems used in construction. It examines the suitability and limitations of each shoring type, clarifying the conditions under which method is recommended or should be avoided.

 

Installation procedures for the principal shoring systems will be described in detail, followed by case studies from past projects that illustrate implementation challenges and the lessons learned. This session also includes a concise overview of monitoring techniques used to assess shoring performance as well as the use of glassreinforced bars.

Daniela Xavier, M.E.Sc, P.Eng

GeoStructural engineer, InGeo Design Ltd.

 

Daniela Xavier is a GeoStructural engineer and the founder of InGeo Design.  She designs practical, field-ready solutions for excavation shoring and specialty foundations.  She is also well adverse in shoring monitoring including vibration monitoring, pile monitoring, precision monitoring and inclinometers.   With a Master’s in Engineering Science and over 25 years in the field, she has seen how trust and clarity are essential to safe, successful builds. That’s why she leads with technical precision and real-world pragmatism—bridging the gap between design intent and construction reality.  As one of the few women leading in this space, Daniela is passionate about helping clients reduce risk and move projects forward with confidence.  She has contributed to a wide range of high-profile construction and infrastructure developments, including Union Station, Toronto Western Hospital, Kingston Ferry Dock, and many others.
