Event Information:

This presentation will touch base on the various concrete curing and protection specifications and industry best practices applicable for the province of Ontario. These will cover most residential, commercial, municipal and provincial concrete applications. The presentation will also cover hot and cold weather concreting best practices. A good understanding and practice of proper concrete curing and protection will ensure the designed concrete quality and performance. The presentation provides best practices and tips to both owners, specifiers and designers for a quality, resilient and sustainable concrete project.

Our Guest Speaker:

Oliver Xiao, P.Eng.

Civil and Materials Engineer

Oliver is a licenced professional engineer in Ontario. He currently works for a specialty load-reduction solutions infrastructure contractor. He previously worked for the Ready Mixed Concrete Association of Ontario as their Technical Services Engineer. He was responsible for the concrete production facility certification program and leads the Municipal Outreach Program that offers technical assistance on standards and specifications to municipalities across Ontario.

Oliver also has extensive knowledge in research and development of construction materials and technologies, in addition to his special application project delivery experiences. He is actively involved with various professional associations. Oliver is a board member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Ontario Chapter and member of TAC technical committees. He was also involved in various industry task forces and standard committees.
