Ottawa Chapter committees

  1. The communication committee manages communications outreach with Chapter members via emails, the chapter website, newsletters and our social media channels. The committee recognizes outstanding work of local engineers and engineering students.

  2. The GLP committee works to ensure that government, elected officials and the public continue to recognize and understand PEO’s regulatory mandate and policy directions. Also the committee improves the visibility of engineers to political decision-makers and encourages engineers to be more politically involved.

  3. The education outreach committee organizes educational and engages activities in the community to inspire youth, students, professionals and the public to explore engineering as a career.

  4. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee is a dynamic group of professional engineers driving innovation and supporting entrepreneurship in our community. The Committee promotes innovation and entrepreneurship among Ottawa engineers and engineering students for the economic and employment benefit of the community.

  5. The awards & recognition committee recognizes the contributions of Chapter volunteers and outstanding work of local engineers and engineering students.

    Engineering Project of the Year Award

    The Engineering Project of the Year Award recognizes outstanding technical projects within our community and showcases the achievements of local businesses, while promoting the practice of professional engineering and highlighting our Chapter's activities. We look forward to celebrating your successes!

    Volunteer Service Recognition Program

    PEO's Volunteer Recognition Program  recognizes the service that volunteers provide to the association. The efforts of volunteers result in many accomplishments and contribute to the operation and success of PEO. The Volunteer Recognition Service program recognizes volunteers who have served on chapters and celebrates achievements of milestone years of service. The recognition pin is awarded to recognize five, 15, and 20 years of service. The Engineers Canada Fellowship pin recognizes 10 years of service. A special sterling silver pin is awarded when a volunteer has 25 or more years of service.

    • The Sustainability and Green Energy Committee organizes sustainability symposiums contributing to a cultural shift to sustainability.
    • The Diversity Equity Inclusion Committee establishes a supportive and welcoming environment within oPEO - creating a diverse, equal and inclusive environment is not only important for members, but it can also improve volunteer recruitment and innovation efforts. The committee supports Engineers Canada’s 30 by 30 initiative to raise the percentage of newly licensed engineers in Canada who are woman to 30% by the year 2030.
    • The Annual General Meeting (AGM) Working Group Organizes the AGM.  Works with the New Members committee when New Members Night is merged with the AGM.
    • The Nominating Committee nominates the slate of officers and executives to serve on the Ottawa Chapter.
    • The Membership Committee welcomes new licence holders (P.Eng.) by organizing new member events.
    • The Website Management manages the Chapter Website.
