PEO Lambton Chapter Fall 2025 Technical Seminar

6:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Sarnia-Lambton Research Park, 1086 Modeland Rd., Sarnia, ON, N7S 6L2

Boardroom B1/B2

The PEO Lambton Chapter and the Sarnia-Lambton Research Park are pleased to announce the offering of a technical seminar scheduled to take place Oct 9, 2025.

With a joint venture with the Research Park, we are able to offer an in depth, dissertation quality presentation.  This hour-long technical presentation’s intent is to provide CPD type credits to assist in your PEAK technical continuing education.

As part of the technical seminar, a networking session following the seminar will take place.  This will give attendees a chance to talk to the presenter and to network with our fellow P. Engs.

Dr. Ying Zheng from UWO will look at the transition to a low-carbon economy and is one of the most critical challenges facing the engineering community.  Her presentation will explore how innovations in catalyst and catalytic process design are intensifying chemical processes and driving the transition to a low-carbon economy. The presentation will move beyond energy-intensive thermal processes with two key examples:

      1)    Upgrading biofuels under mild conditions, and

      2)    A novel plasma-catalytic process for CO₂ conversion

Dr. Zheng’s presentation will also detail how renewable electricity powers a Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma to activate stable CO₂ molecules under ambient conditions, converting them into valuable products like ethanol. This synergy between advanced catalysis and process intensification provides a powerful engineering toolkit for scalable, sustainable technology.

The technical seminar will take place in person only at the Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.  Additional information is available when you register on Eventbrite.

Please arrive at about 6:45pm as the doors will be locked after 7:15pm.  The presentation will start at 7:00 pm.  The seminar is scheduled to last about one hour including Q&A.  Have your questions ready.

This event is for PEO P. Engs. only.

As part of the registration process, please add your PEO license number as part of your last name.  This will allow the administrator to cross-check registrations against PEO’s membership directory.
