PEO Grand River Chapter: Speaker Series - 30by30 with Engineers Canada

This event is for engineering Students, EITs, and PEO members.

Light snacks will be provided. There will also be an opportunity to win raffle prizes!

The Committee

The PEO Grand River 30 by 30 Committee hosts events geared towards Women in Engineering students and professionals in the workplace, with the goal of raising the percentage of newly licensed Women engineers to 30% by the year 2030. The committee welcomes participants of all gender identities!

The Event

Join Engineers Canada’s Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Strategic Partnerships, Jeanette Southwood, and Kim Bouffard, Manager, Belonging and Engagement. Their talk will include Engineers Canada's effort in this initiative, and how the 30by30 initiative has evolved. They will also highlight the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, their personal experiences, and what the future has in store as we work together to advance gender equity in engineering!

Presentation will be followed by Q&A with Jeanette and Kim, as well as opportunities for attendees to network and speak on their own experiences.

About Jeanette

Award-winning engineer and leader, Jeanette Southwood is Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Strategic Partnerships at Engineers Canada. Before joining Engineers Canada, she led the Canadian Urban Development & Infrastructure Sector and the Global Sustainable Cities teams at an international consulting firm. Jeanette is a recipient of the Governor General's Sovereign's Medal and was twice named one of WXN Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and has been honoured as one of the Global50 Women in Sustainability as well as Canada’s Clean50 for her work and dedication to sustainable development, leading change, championing innovation, and changing our world for the better. In addition, Jeanette sits on the TD Insurance Advisory Board on Climate Change, and on the Board of the Electrical Safety Authority.

About Kim

Kim Bouffard is the Manager of Belonging and Engagement at Engineers Canada. She oversees Engineers Canada’s work towards gender equity and Truth and Reconciliation, and manages Engineers Canada's outreach and engagement initiatives including two national system change projects: the 30 by 30 initiative and the K-12 Collective Impact Project. She currently serves as the President for the Canadian Coalition of Women in Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology (CCWESTT) and has spent over 15 years supporting organizations to make progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, leading national projects and initiatives addressing gender inequity, food insecurity, poverty, and sustainable cities.
