The PEO East Toronto Chapter invites you to our upcoming technical seminar focused on the data science and engineering behind building electrification.

Technical Seminar: Electrification Tools: Heat Pump Identifier & Heating Load Estimator

Join us for an insightful session exploring the vital role of data analysis in transitioning building heating systems to electric power. This seminar is essential for engineers, consultants, and technical professionals interested in energy efficiency, building services, and modern utility grid strategy.

What You Will Learn:

  • Building Heat Loss Fundamentals: Start with a concise review of basic principles.
  • The Power of Linear Regression: Understand the benefits and challenges of applying linear regression analysis to building energy consumption patterns.
  • Top-Down Grid Strategy: The Heat Pump Identifier: Discover an internal Toronto Hydro tool that uses regression analysis to identify homes that have successfully switched to heat pumps, directly aiding in grid planning and strategy.
  • Bottom-Up Building Analysis: The Heating Load Estimator: Learn about this practical tool designed for building owners and consultants. It takes a building’s monthly gas consumption to accurately estimate the additional peak electric heat demand required at the coldest time of the year, helping determine necessary electrical capacity upgrades.

This is a unique opportunity to see how Toronto Hydro is leveraging data to drive the electrification transition in the city.
