Message from the Chapter Chair

March 2026

Dear Chapter Members,

I am deeply honoured to serve as the Chair of the PEO East Toronto Chapter for the 2026–2027 term. I want to begin by thanking our outgoing Chair, Sara Ayub, for her dedication and leadership over the past year. Under her guidance, the Chapter rebuilt its momentum, re‑energized its programs, and strengthened its connection with members. I look forward to building on that foundation together with our incoming executive team.

This year, our Chapter will focus on outreach, engagement, and inclusivity. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for connection among licensed engineers, EITs, and prospective P.Engs. Our goal is to bring more members into the conversation, support you on your professional journey, and ensure our events reflect the diversity and strength of the East Toronto engineering community.

We are excited to introduce several priorities and initiatives for the coming year:

1. Strengthening Licensing Ceremonies

We will enhance our licensing ceremonies to be more inclusive, more engaging, and more celebratory—recognizing the hard work and dedication that go into earning the P.Eng designation.

2. Re‑energizing Education Outreach

Our Chapter will restart K‑12 outreach programs to inspire future engineers and amplify PEO’s mandate to protect the public interest through engineering regulation.

3. Expanding Technical Seminars and Tours

We will deliver more high‑quality technical events that support ongoing professional development, spark curiosity, and create opportunities for members to learn from one another.

These initiatives would not be possible without the passion and commitment of our Chapter volunteers, especially our sub‑committee Chairs. Their contributions form the backbone of our Chapter’s success, and I am profoundly grateful for all they do.

As we move forward, I invite you—our members—to help shape this year’s direction. We welcome your suggestions for activities, partnerships, professional development topics, and community engagement opportunities. Your ideas and participation make our Chapter stronger.

If you have questions, feedback, or would like to get involved, please reach out to our Chapter Executives anytime at [email protected] or directly to me at [email protected]
Together, let’s make 2026–2027 a year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful impact.

Warm Wishes,

Larry Wong, P.Eng.
Chair, East Toronto Chapter
