360° Engineer Series

Exploring the disciplines that surround engineering

The 360° Engineer series is a professional development initiative of the West Toronto Chapter that explores the broader disciplines surrounding engineering. Each session features accomplished professionals who share their experience and practical insights to help engineers become more effective contributors and leaders.

Today’s Topic

We lift the curtain on one of the least understood, yet critical functions in major projects delivery organizations.

Successful projects begin with solid engineering. But delivering complex projects requires much more. Engineering teams must work effectively with many other groups, often non-engineers, to make it all work. There are many moving pieces, and they must click together at the right time for a project to succeed.

Project Controls is the function that drives success.

Often misunderstood or mistaken for finance, accounting, or project management, Project Controls serves a very different purpose. Understanding Project Controls can help engineers better navigate complex project environments and contribute more effectively to successful project outcomes.

What You Will Learn

·       What Project Controls really is; and what it is not

·       Why it plays a critical role in project execution

Who Should Attend

·       Early-career engineers who want to better understand how major projects are managed

·       Engineers working on large projects who interact with project managers and controls teams

·       Project engineers and technical leads seeking insight into how cost and schedule are managed

·       Anyone interested in improving project outcomes in complex engineering environments

This event is also a great opportunity for new Chapter Members to connect with fellow engineers, meet the Chapter leadership, learn about our upcoming events and explore ways to get involved.

Pre-registration is required as seating is limited. REGISTER here

(If your plans change, please cancel so that others may attend.)
