PEO Sudbury - Killarney Event
Killarney, ON
- The Crack Trail
- Lakefront at 21 Channel, Killarney
Join the PEO Sudbury Chapter at their first event in Killarney!
Come see the Fall colours and hike the Crack, one of the top 10 hikes in Ontario.
Or, come for the light refreshments afterwards on the waterfront of Killarney. The "Crack Trail" in Killarney Provincial Park is an iconic hike that offers beautiful views, especially in the fall, when the trees turn vibrant colors against the park's clear lakes and white quartzite ridges.
Date: September 13, 2025
Time: Meet at the Parking Lot at the Crack at 12pm. Feel free to start earlier if you are a less experienced hiker.
Cost: Free but please register if you are attending!
Ensure you get a Provincial Park parking pass ahead of time: https://reservations.ontarioparks.ca/
Meet/Refreshments at the Lakefront: when you finish the trail, approx 4-6pm
21 Channel, Killarney, ON (13 min drive from the trail).
You can buy yourself some local Fish and Chips if you’d like as well 😊.
Carpooling to Killarney is recommended. If you are willing to provide a ride, or looking for a ride, please email [email protected]
Trail Difficulty:
The Crack Trail is considered a moderate-to-difficult hike due to its length and steep terrain. If you cannot do the difficult section, you can do the milder trail or another Killarney hike and still meet us for refreshments afterwards.
The Crack (red markers) is a linear trail, rather than a loop; however, it is also part of a 78 km backcountry trail (blue markers). Once you reach the top, it is critical to follow the red markers back the way you came. If you start seeing only blue markers, you’ve gone the wrong way. Do not attempt this hike in sandals, Crocs, rubber boots, or flipflops. Pack 2L of water per person.
