Please join us for an exciting technical tour of the McMaster University Medical Centre (MUMC), Hamilton Health Sciences – Combined heat and power (CHP) and boiler plant and networking dinner on Thursday, September 25, 2025!
The tour is of the newly completed infrastructure to support the Hospital which includes a combined heat and power plant and a new steam/hot water heating plant. The designs for these two projects were completed by CEM Engineering (CHP plant) and WalterFedy (Boiler plant). Speakers at the event include CEM Engineering/WalterFedy leads and the Hamilton Health Sciences Energy Manager. A networking dinner will follow the tour at Phoenix Craft House and Grill (on McMaster University campus).

4:00pm – 4:05pm - Arrival at MUMC Lecture Theatre 1A5 (see directions below)
4:05pm - 4:30 pm - Initial welcome and overview of the plant systems
4:30pm – 5:15pm – Group A tours the CHP (CEM lead) / Group B tours the Boiler Plant (WalterFedy lead)
5:15pm – 6:00pm – Group B tours the CHP (CEM lead) / Group A tours the Boiler plant (WalterFedy lead)
6:15pm – 8:00pm – Dinner and Networking at Phoenix Craft House and Grill
Parking and Directions (see map below): Paid parking is available at the McMaster University campus Parking Lot I (access from Cootes Drive), with a 6 minute walk to MUMC (Enter at the Ewart Angus entrance, MUMC northwest corner - see location A on map below). The Lecture Theatre 1A5 is located immediately to the right after entering the building. Following the technical tour, attendees will walk (6 minutes) to Phoenix Craft House and Grill located on the McMaster University campus (see location B).
Important Notes:
- Limited registration – sign up early. Please arrive on time. It is recommended that you bring safety shoes/boots.
- Participants may be able to claim time towards PEAK hours if the subject matter aligns with their area of specialty. However, the chapter does not issue any attendance certificate. Please refer to PEAK program details.
