TECHNICAL SPEAKER BIOS
Ken Bousfield, P.Eng., has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo (1984) and a law degree from the University of Toronto Law School (1992). He has been a Professional Engineer since 1989, and a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 1994. He has been a registered patent and trademark agent since 1996. Ken does significant work in the railroad industry.
Ken’s presentation will emphasize the origins of the basic principles and purposes of patent law.
Mengyang Wang, P. Eng., CFAA, is a code and life safety specialist, ULC Standards Committee member, and CFAA Central Ontario member with 20 years of experience in the fire and life safety industry.
Mengyang will present an overview of fire alarm systems, including key components and types. The talk will highlight relevant codes and standards and discuss compliance best practices.
Sam Zhran, P.Eng., RCDD, is a registered Professional Engineer as well as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Carleton University. His is currently employed with Ellis Don where he works as an Information Technology System Architect.
In his presentation, Sam will elaborate on his work relating to the design, development, implementation, integration and interoperability of Information, Communications, Automation and Technology (ICAT) systems, including the testing, production and development of integration engine software and hardware. He will include a interactive live demonstration of a current healthcare system application.
