Join us for a virtual technical talk by Professor Igor Pioro on "Global Electricity Generation and the Future of Nuclear Power". Dr. Pioro will share his research journey, highlight major publications from the Handbook of Generation IV Nuclear Reactors (2023, where he serves as Editor and chapter author), and provide an up-to-date overview of worldwide electricity generation trends, nuclear power status globally and in Canada. The session will conclude with an interactive Q&A.

Image of Igor PioroSpeaker Bio: Professor Igor Pioro, Ph.D., Dr. Tech. Sc., P.Eng., is a Professor in the Department of Energy and Nuclear Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Ontario Tech University. A Fellow of ASME, CAE, CSME & EIC, lifetime member of ANS, member of CNS, and Foreign Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, he served as Founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief (2014–2024) of the ASME Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Science. Internationally recognized for over 500 publications and numerous patents, his research focuses on nuclear engineering, thermal hydraulics of reactors, Generation-IV concepts, advanced heat transfer, and innovative next-generation nuclear power technologies.
