PEO Brampton Chapter - 2025 Mathletics Competition

Do you love solving puzzles and thinking fast?
Join us for Mathletics, a fun and exciting math contest where students use math to solve real-world science and engineering problems!
Groups
- Juniors: Grades 5 & 6 - Questions based upon the Ontario Curriculum for Grade 6 Mathematics
- Seniors: Grades 7 & 8 - Questions based upon the Ontario Curriculum for Grade 8 Mathematics
What to Expect
- You’ll answer math questions using a clicker.
- Questions will be shown on a big screen, and you’ll pick your answers.
- You’ll see your results right away on the screen!
- The questions are based on what you learn in school, plus some cool new ideas.
- You’ll get to think creatively and learn how math helps in science and engineering.
Prizes and Certificates
- The top 3 winners in each group will win prizes.
- Everyone who joins gets a certificate of participation to celebrate their effort!

- Spots: Only 40 students per Group can join — sign up early!

Who can participate in the competition?
This event is open to all Peel Region students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be enrolled in a school that is physically located in Peel Region. Students in the nearby regions may participate with prior approval by contacting the organizing committee.
Important Note For Teachers/Parents/Guardians:
Teachers, parents, guardians, and their guests are not permitted to observe or attend the event.
This competition will be conducted in English only.

Eligibility, Testing Standard and Prizes
- All full time elementary school students from Peel Region are eligible.
- Questions are based upon the Ontario Curriculum Grades 1-8: Mathematics.
- Questions relate to the application of mathematics to science and engineering.
- Some questions will be based on engineering topics introduced during the competition.
- Prizes for first, second, and third place winners will be awarded in each Group.

- Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There is no limit on the number of students from each school.
- Students may participate in only one level of this competition.

Competition Format
Competition Format
- The Mathletics Competition is for individual participation.
- Each Group of the competition will have two rounds: Round 1 - Introductory Round - Warm-up questions, Round 2 - Challenge Round - Fast-paced, challenging questions
- All participants are required to participate in both rounds.
- Each participant will be provided with a numbered wireless clicker. The clickers must be returned to the designated area at the end of the competition.
- Questions will be projected on a large screen.
- Participants will use the wireless clicker to enter/submit their answers.
- A computer will record all responses and compile the marks.
- Students are allowed to bring and use aids like calculators, paper, pens, and books. (As a minimum, a calculator, scrap paper, and pencil are strongly recommended)
- Cell phones or any device capable of telecommunication are NOT permitted.
