PEO Algonquin Chapter Popsicle Stick Bridge Building & Busting Challenge

On April 11, 2026, the PEO Algonquin Chapter organized a Popsicle Stick Bridge Building and Busting Challenge during the 46th Renfrew County Regional Science and Technology Fair at Algonquin College in Pembroke, Ontario. The challenge engaged students in applying fundamental engineering principles by designing and constructing bridges using popsicle sticks, with a focus on strength, efficiency, and creativity. Participants then tested their structures under increasing loads, observing how design choices influenced performance and failure points.
In addition to hosting this interactive event, the Algonquin Chapter contributed to the fair by assisting with the judging of engineering projects and sponsoring the Best Engineering Project Award.
