Regulating the practice of professional engineering and governing licence holders in Ontario in the public interest
Professional Engineers Ontario licenses Ontario’s 73,000 professional engineers, grants temporary, limited and provisional licences to practise professional engineering, and authorizes businesses to provide engineering services to the public. It sets standards for and regulates engineering practice. Under the Professional Engineers Act, its statutory mandate is to serve and protect the public interest where engineering is concerned. Rigorously educated, experienced and committed to a Code of Ethics that puts the public first, licensed professional engineers can be identified by the P.Eng. after their names. Limited engineering licensees can be identified by the LEL after their names.

“Additional Requirements–Ontario Labour Mobility Act
Audit of PEO Registration Practices
On December 9, 2009, the Ontario government passed the Ontario Labour Mobility Act, 2009, intended to enable certified or licensed workers to practise their occupations in any province. The act requires that licensing bodies, like PEO, publish on their websites every requirement for licensure they impose on applicants who are already licensed to practise that profession in another province. Click here to read PEO’s Additional Requirements.”
An audit of the registration practices of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) confirms the association’s policies and procedures to be fair, transparent, objective and impartial.
