Public Review on Proposed Changes to the 2010 National Building Code
The Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes invites you to take part in the winter 2012 public review of proposed changes to incorporate energy efficiency for housing and small buildings into Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada 2010. The public review will run from January 9 until March 2, 2012 on the National Codes website.


EIT Fee Receipts and Membership Cards
Engineering interns (EITs) can now download their fee receipts and membership cards from PEO's website. Simply log-in to the Members Area and follow the instructions.


Members' Forum Upgrade
The PEO Members' Forum, where members discuss and debate all things engineering, has been upgraded to increase security and improve maintenance and administration.

Volunteer Service Recognition Program
PEO has introduced a new recognition program to recognize the service that volunteers provide to the association. The efforts of volunteers result in many accomplishments and contribute to the operation and success of PEO.

The Volunteer Recognition Service program recognizes volunteers who have served on chapters, committees/ task forces and PEO Council, and celebrates achievements of milestone years of service. The recognition pin is awarded to recognize five, 15, and 20 years of service. The Engineers Canada FEC pin recognizes 10 years of service. A special sterling silver pin is awarded when a volunteer has 25 or more years of service.

Engineering Intern Training Financial Credit Program (FCP)
Graduates of Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited Engineering programs and International Engineering Graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering or Applied Science Degree may be able to apply for PEO’s professional engineer licence at no cost. Practitioners have 30 days to update their information
Under section 50 of Regulation 941/90, professional engineers and holders of limited, temporary and provisional licences must update the information in their application for a licence, limited licence, temporary licence or certificate of authorization within 30 days of any change to the information.  Changes to information may be made online through the password-protected Members' Area or by emailing PEO’s Document Management Centre.

PEO and the practice of natural science
PEO has no jurisdiction over the practice of natural science. Under the Professional Engineers Act, it regulates the practice of professional engineering. Where PEO is concerned a person not licensed by PEO might be practising professional engineering in addition to natural science, the Overlapping Practices Committee will be consulted.
