PEO Entry-to-Practice Review

The PEO Entry-to-Practice Review is a report PEO prepared for the Office of the Fairness Commissioner and submitted on March 1, 2011. The mandate of the review was to examine PEO’s entry-to-practice requirements with a view to improving access to the profession for qualified applicants while continuing to protect public safety.

 The Office of the Fairness Commissioner is an arm’s length agency of the Ontario government, established under the Fair Access to Regulated Professions Act.  Its mandate is to ensure that certain regulated professions have registration practices that are transparent, objective, impartial and fair.

The scope of the review included the following:

    • An analysis of the necessity and relevance of the requirements for practical training and or work experience, including any practicum, mentorship, internship or residency;
    • An analysis of the efficiency and timeliness of decision-making, including decisions related to assessment, registration and appeals;
    • An analysis of the reasonableness of the fees charged by the regulated profession in respect of registrations
