PEO Council 2018-2019

Marilyn Spink, P.Eng.
Lieutenant Governor-in-Council Appointee

Marilyn Spink’s 30-year engineering career began in northern Ontario’s mining and pulp and paper industries and then moved to steelmaking operations in both the US and Canada. After executing capital projects with Dofasco, she moved into the consulting engineering EPCM world, working on large, complex mining and minerals projects around the world. At Hatch, SNC-Lavalin, Wardrop (now Tetra Tech) and Golder Associates, as a multi-discipline engineering manager and a process engineer at heart, she led and supported teams of professional engineers and designers. Giving back to the engineering profession is also important to Spink via her lieutenant governor appointment to PEO Council and by contributing to several PEO committees and task forces in her role as a PEO councillor. She has been a licensed professional engineer (PEO) since 1995, is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) since 2000, the year OSPE was created, and a long-time member of several mining industry associations and was honoured to be selected to participate in the Canadian Institute of Mining & Metalurgy’s Distinguished Lecturer program. Her long-term goals are to build board/directorship experience to feed her strong interest in corporate governance and to ensure the voice of engineering is heard at the boardroom table. Spink is married to Jamie Gerson, also a professional engineer, who is extremely supportive of all her interests and a wonderful father to their three children.
